Even if planning a party at your house seems more overwhelming than fun, take it easy. Preparing for a party doesn?t have to be a nightmare; there are plenty of tricks to make it easier and maybe even fun.
Making a big master list is a great first step. You can organize the list by the date on which certain tasks must be accomplished or by specific category. You can create a category for food, listing what you need to buy and what items can be prepared ahead of time, etc. For decorations, list what items you wish to use and be sure to note which things you already have and what you need to purchase. It is also wise to include a cleaning schedule on your list.
If you have a party theme, this can make it easier to plan and think of great decoration and menu ideas as well. Even if you do have a theme, it is best to keep things simple. For example, you don?t have to decorate every square inch of your home, just stick with a few special areas, such as the buffet table and the guest tables.
Flowers are one of the best items to use for decorations, and these are also one of the easier items to purchase. Just head to the computer and visit your online flower shop. Let the professional floral designers create whatever type of arrangement will best suit your party theme or decor. In five minutes, you can have all of your flowers chosen and delivery scheduled.
You would be surprised how many different types of arrangements can be created. There are bouquets suitable for every season and just about every holiday, from Easter to Cinco de Mayo to even the Fourth of July. There are great, spooky Halloween flower arrangements and even fun arrangements for birthday parties. Obviously, decorating with flowers is a perfect idea for dinner parties, wedding showers and baby showers.
Menus also should be as simple as possible. Try to find a menu that allows you to make some of the items ahead of time, such as the dessert or some appetizers. Or choose a menu that is easy to prepare, such as a bowl of stew or chili for a Super Bowl party. Add some simple appetizers and you have an easy, relaxed party menu. If you do want something fancier and more elaborate, consider having at least part of your food items catered. You can even hire one or two people who can help serve or clean up in the kitchen. Keep the drink menu simple as well. Stick with a couple of wines and perhaps one specific cocktail.
